We enjoy helping others learn about our craft. To this end, we offer an introductory course in Glass Art as well as practical courses in warm glass - such as glass fusing and glass slumping, lampworking, glass casting - as well as traditional leadlighting (or stained glass). We are also happy to recommend other studios which teach other glass art techniques.
We conduct in depth workshops in specific areas such as jewellery making, mould making, raking and casting.
We will even take you through the process of building your own electric kiln for glass fusing and slumping.
Warm glass - predominately fusing and slumping - is the current focus of glass art development in Australia and Internationally. Warm glass artists have a unique opportunity to explore a new medium (largely without preconceived limits) These courses provide students with the essential knowledge and practical skills to undertake glass slumping and fusing.
Leadlighting is a traditional art form which remains popular today. We are happy to teach this subject in the traditional way but brought up to date with modern enhancements and standards.
All of the courses are very much hands on and we run them at our Canberra studio in small groups of up to 4 adults both during the day and evenings in the week and also on weekends. Each student receives a full set of course notes and has a hands-on opportunity to create their own unique glass projects.
All course tools and equipment are provided, as are materials for basic projects. Students can bring their own hand tools if preferred.
For safety reasons, students must wear closed in shoes, long sleeved shirts and jeans at all times. Additional safety equipment (supplied) is mandatory for some activities.
